ENCINAL HIGH CLASS OF 1988’s ALUMNI CHALLENGE - Let's give back in a big way!  This is the start of a six month long project that, in conjunction with what the Boosters, Alumni, and Friends of Encinal have already accomplished, will, we hope, make serious improvements for the school. As some of you may have heard, it started out as a potential fund-raiser for the school to be held the night of the Class of 1988’s 20 Year Reunion.  Well, it definitely grew quite a bit from there.  We now plan to do as much as possible before August 24, 2008 when we celebrate whatever the end result is!! We will have video updates of the process as we go along.  We will let you know how close we are to achieving our goals AND you will get to peruse this site for fun facts and info regarding our fellow alumni. Okay, back to the alumni!!!  Here is a list of projects but, I am sure things will be added so keep checking in to see if there is anything you think you can help us accomplish.     A New World-Class Track and Field –approx 1.5 million     350 New Folding Chairs for the Auditorium – approx $10,000- 15,000 (current chairs are 55 yrs old)     New LCD Projectors for the classrooms – approx $2 – 3,000 each     An additional 30 student desks the school is short for current student body     New Teacher Chairs (with wheels) and Desks     New Window Coverings as many of the blinds are broken or not functioning     Replacement Ceiling Tiles in both the hallways and the gym     Replacement Window Curtains for the Gym     New Sound System for the Gym – approx $5000     Over-hangs for the Science Building     New and updated Technology for the Media Center     An updated telephone system with additional trunk lines     A resurfacing of the tennis courts     New industrial copy machine(s) for the teachers with paper     Running water for the snack shack located by the field     Bathrooms constructed by the field for game use     New Filtration System for the swimming pools     Repairing the heating system     Drought-tolerant landscaping     Construction of a Performing Arts Center planned back in the 90’s – approx 10 million Now, there is some money the city has set aside to do some work.  We will be meeting with the director in the weeks to come and will update any information that changes after comparing the budgets.  Some of the above mentioned projects already have some monies being raised through the Boosters and the Alumni Association.  Any money or contributions we raise will be combined. Be sure to sign up as alumni on the site and start thinking about where you might be able to help out.  We are going to do phenomenal things together.  This has never been done and we will hopefully inspire others to do the same.
